There were only 10 of these caps (pictured below) made, and you could get your hands on one of them!!!

To be in with a chance, tell us what you’d do with a Staying Alive Grant… What kind of project would you set up in your community to make sure you really got the HIV/AIDS message out there?
Leave your response in the comments section below…
On Friday Travie will pick the best - and if yours is chosen, we’ll send the cap right over to ya…
Get thinking - and get creative!

i would set a project up sorta of like travies but i would set up sex ed classes in different parts of the world and i would bring in ppl that had experiences with hiv or aids or any stds. i would make models of or even videos of ppls lives with hiv or aids and how it is very important to practice safe sex.i would give away free condoms to ppl that don’t have money to buy condoms. i would try to throw a parade for staying alive to show that using protection is very important to all ages. that is some of the stuff i would do with a staying alive grant.
since the question pertains to how i would use a staying alive grant in my OWN community to raise awareness about hiv/aids, i would first go back to to my high school in the south, where i feel they are in need of some serious hiv/aids education. in the area where i want to school, hiv/aids infections rates were incredibly high, however, my school, a christian school, taught abstinence only. this left my peers especially open to std’s and unwanted/unplanned pregnancies. i know that school wouldn’t allow me to do any kind of work on their campus, i would social networking sites to contact students and alumni, and use the grant to make a series of films educating young people about hiv/aids. i would also set up a free hotline, anonymous, of course, where kids could call in for more information or help- referrals to doctors, therapists, etc.- upon viewing the films. i think that, although small, this kind of project could have incredibly positive affects on not only the people limited to that community, but through the internet, also extend beyond the limits of a small area.
i admire what you are all doing. keep it up!
If given a chance to do so, I would set up a free clinic in my community, or make the existing one more popular. To be honest, I have no idea where the closest one is to me. If I had the money, I would make it more known, promote safe sex and abstinence, and also use a bit of fear. A little bit of fear will get the point across. We are doing good as a society on HIV/AIDS prevention as compared to the 80s, but I believe we can do so much better. Also, I would be willing to pay stores like Walmart, Target, and other places who sell condoms to make it where they have a free condom day. I would pay all of the damages created by the condom give-a-way. If I had a Staying Alive Grant, I would make a difference with my community to help stop the spread of HIV/AIDS, because STDs are no laughing matter, and should be taken extremely seriously.
Alaska is one of the highest rate with HIV/Aids. What you need to do is get out there sponsors that can help make it HUGE and radio stations to know whats going on. We get people in our schools and have things that just don’t interest teens and young adults. Throwing a big bash while making it very clear that we need awareness and people need to use protection. Have packets on information and where you can go to get checked. When something is a bit upsetting to talk about you need to mix it with something to get the adrenaline rushing. Throwing an huge event where a lot of active teens would for sure show is the best way. You can start off with presentation or tables, performance, testimonies, and end the night with dance. Make a statement that will scream awareness. Even maybe have a little contest for people during the week of the event so people are listening and know when to go.
i would use the money to set up a sort of benefit concert, with local well known bands, there would be different booths relating to hiv/aids including pervention, dangers and other things regarding the subject. the point would be to have kids and adults alike having fun and learning about this important subject without really having the classroom enviroment that most people dread. there will be a booth in which peole can get free condoms to urge safe sex.keep up everything your doing =]
soo first off i lovee you! haha im always yelling ohh i love travyy and people looked at me weird cause my brothers name is travis but on subject your a bomb ass person and this would probably be the best thing ever if i got this hat well pleasee do it upp :)-M.CLACK
I would search celebrities that have gotten the viruses and show them in classes, shows,or even in a commercial.Another way you could also approach this would be Gym Class Heroes making a song about the situation.Get it out there fast. Also another thought would be to try to book a tour to pay towards the cure of HIV/AIDS and letting people know how many people have lost their lives to this.On this tour you could have people like Magic Johnson help show how it is to cheat death and live from something that has killed several people.
To be completely honest, I have no idea what I’d do with a Staying Alive Grant. I’d probably open up a health center and go to school and help spread the word out to help not only teens, but everyone about HIV/AIDS.
Yeah, I really don’t know.
I am a fifteen year old aspiring activist and humanitarian, and there is nothing in my life I am more passionate about than advocating various causes. As a homosexual teenager the hiv/ aids cause is one very close to heart. I am currently the founder and co-president of the Maywood Academy Teenagers Helping Everyone Advocacy and Charity Club, and with the funds I would be glad to set up a local campaign here in Los Angeles to advocate and inform the low income communities about aids and hiv. With the money, I would even be interested to set up some sort of partnership with the local gay/lesbian center and Planned Parenthood, in order to appeal to the young teenagers of the community. With an uprising amount of affected people something innovative must be done, and it must be done now. I am very willing to give all my effort to aid this cause and would I would greatly appreciate the opportunity.
To further the education of HIV/Aids, i would most definatly get the majority of the population in and around my community and have real people with HIV’s and AIDS to speak about there everyday struggles and pains they have to go threw in their everyday lifes. I think that would be a very good eye opener for the people to actually have a real life witness of the problems and stuggles for just one mistake they made. I also think that teenagers in and around my school just care about haveing sex but they don’t know the consequences of what might just be a fun time to them. Makeing a hotline for anybody stuggaling with those problems to call for advise and help. Commercials about safe sex should be aired and many other types of activitys such as classes in schools and other places .
I Would make HIV/AIDs testing available in Public High schools. And also flip the image of getting tested into a cool thing to do, not a negative.. Maybe with Urban Street Wear and things of that sort.. Also Set up Tents @ Events like Warped Tour & Bamboozle, Rock the Bells etc.. Put together Compilation CDs or Digital downloads of Musicians who support the cause.
hmm.. i would probably think of something like making condoms that say funny shut on them u know supporting safe sex and what not..like condoms with israeli or palestinian flags on them and have it say “its safe to come” or something like that. also setting up booths always helps especially when it comes to younger crowds going to all the schools and spreading the word about hiv/aids allll over the world not just in areas like africa where people already know. i think we should teach that safe sex is ok you dont have to be abstinant or whatever because from somethings ive seen thats the one thing the people punch out the most and as a teen thats just not me..
concerts and shit always help too
peace

To REALLY get the message out to people in my community about HIV/AIDS i would try to organize a group of people who have been educated and have studied it and have them speak at all the high schools in the area, get a prevention group at the community center that would give away condoms and other information and would meet every so often, and also try to get the local stations on tv to post a documentay or something about it.
I think that you guys are all a huge inspiration and are amazing for getting involved into this sort of thing!
First, I would start a club in my high school about raising awareness for HIV/AIDS. We could put posters up and whatnot about awareness and joining the club then we could ask stores is we could put jars for change that we could send to an group that could do bigger things with the money we would raise.
Another fun idea would be to like have a huge party, or a rave for awareness and take money at the door and do the same thing with the money(send it in and whatnot). Then we could throw condoms into the dancing crowd. Maybe Gym Class Heroes could perform at said party. ;D Then Travie could talk to everyone about the seriousness of this epidemic.
i would set up a “skate for aids” charity and have pros and ams to skate to raise money for research and try to have so bands play as well. thanks for your consideration peach and love.
If I got a grant to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS I would ask my aunt to let me raise awareness at a Health Fair she has every year for men, women, and children. I live in a part of town where not many people practice safe sex and have little to no knowledge of it’s dangers resulting in unplanned and young pregnancies. Men along with women would need to be educated and taught that this is very real. They could possibly ruin anothers life because of not telling their mate that they have HIV or AIDS. Many young people ages 16-24 don’t believe that they could possibly contract such a thing as HIV or AIDS. To get the message out there, I would ask a few local channels in Indianapolis if I could make a series of commercials informing people of the dangers of HIV and AIDS. I would ask local celebrities and radio shows if they could help me raise awareness. Indianapolis brings in a lot of concerts and conventions, I would bring a proposal to Black Expo asking them if I could set up a booth for the Staying Alive Foundation and ask doctors and specialists to oversee and educate people about HIV and AIDS. The Staying Alive Foundation has a wonderful insight and a wonderful goal.
I love what the Orginization is doing.
Keep up everything you’re doing guys.
You’re changing the world, one voice at a time!
I am very agreeable!
At first I think that it is to spread information right last I teach basic knowledge, and to fix the environment next!
what i would do with a staying alive grand in my community is a big conference, were experts and people whom had experience hiv and/or aids whether it’s there pearsonal experience or experience by a family member or close relative, to talk to you teen and adults about safe sex, hiv and aids, and the methods in with they can prevent this and any other kinds of sexual transmitted diseases. In the conference there will be sort of gift bags with pamphlets, condoms and all sorts of preventive measuresfor teens and adults, there would also be discussion tables or round tables were teens can express their concerns, knowledge, questions and statements about hiv/aids. Beside this there would also be live feed via internet on the conferences’ page so not only the community gets all this information but also the world.
By far the most important thing would be to target the youngest children that are mature enough to understand the topic-I’m talking about 4th and 5th graders and even 6th graders. In fact, the truth about unprotected sex and STDs needs to be constantly implanted in their brains until they know these solutions by heart. This can be achieved through presentations, videos, facts, and even demonstrations (like how to put on a condom). I know when I was in elementary school the sex ed was very ineffective (partly due to my teachers not giving a care) which is why I had to learn about these issues mostly on my own. And, with all of these new viruses being discovered there needs to be a strict emphasis on safe sex and prevention of the spread of these illnesses. In this case, lack of funding would not be the problem; all that this plan would take is some devoted people that have interest in the betterment of tomorrow’s society. It is important that children break out of the mindset that “nothing can hurt them” as early as possible, because if we don’t start now, how long will it take before we do start?
well we all know that sex ed is very important and its great to have it in small communities as well as all over the world, and thats just what i would do. i would rally up as many known and unknown recording artists from the rock, punk, indie, hip-hop, rap, and maybe even throw some country in there, to bring people together to support this cause and more important to learn more about safe sex and living with the hiv/aids virus aswell as other stds. who doesnt love music? we could set up many booths with doctors, consultants, and young people who’ve been there. there would be films and some speacial speakers at this event. you could think of it as a warped tour for a cause, or staying-alive tour. the sky is the limit my friends. i love and support 100 percent what you guys are doing. stay safe, stay alive, one love.
Gather up some local talent and organize an Aids awareness shindig. all ages. (of coarse) Ooh…make it a red carpet type thing…but the back drop would be dedicated to Families and friends who’ve gone through and suffered. I’d deffinantly gather with friends to absorb their ideas as well and put together the event and more…possibly sell stickers necklaces and design cute draw string back packs, t’s and such to raise money, invite speakers …it’d be fun and not too tough to accomplish. =)
It seems that the majority of HIV/AIDS prevention presentations are given to areas where HIV/AIDS is prominent. In addition to bringing additional aid to these areas, I would begin or continue educating men, women and teenagers on the importance of safe sex in areas where HIV/AIDS is not a major issue. Any donations given would be used to help fund research for a cure and additional preventative methods. In addition to this, I would attempt to recruit people sympathetic to the cause to inform their friends, family members, acquaintances and people they meet on the street of methods they can use to stay safe, spreading the word and asking for additional aid for those who may already have it or are in a region where they may be at risk.
I’d actually promote it in more religious places like churches and places where there are a lot of people. I think that people would put it out in the community and it would spread so that more people other than those with a religion would catch on because most people just seem like they’d do thing for more than their spiritual beleifs if it’s for a good cause… but i do know that where im from people seem more open and willing to do these types of things if its for a good cause. I’d also promote more sex ed classes in high schools because where im from(in my high school) we only have to take one(mandatory)sex ed class for one quarter of our whole high school career. Thats like 1 out of 16 quarters. My shhool district consists of three high schools and they all teach abstinence. If i could get all the schools in the city teaching abstinence then im sure that the pregnancies and std rates would go down. I’m sure that if people instruct their children on what to do when put in a compromising situation like this that a new generation would definately not have as much careless and casual sex like the people of today. I’d also promote more drug awareness class types of things because some people think that all HIV/AIDS come from people not being protected or careful with sex but there are people that use drugs who get it and pass it on to other users and and their children who had no desicion or choice on whether they got it or not. I think that if we start teaching children about this type of stuff earlier in life that it would not happen so frequently. That’s just how I see it and I hope others agree with me.
setting up a project that could really get peoples awareness would be difficult but what i would do would be sure to work!i would set up HIV testing and also try to prevent as much as i could by giving out information world wide, and also condoms.i would tell the world my stradegy-it can be stoped.i would donate money to finding a cure and would do anything to help those in need.
To get the message out in my community about the HIV/AIDS virus I would hold a benifit concert, where we would pass out condoms and information. In between the songs we would have someone come up on the stage and give little facts about how to stay safe from this virus. All the proceeds would be donated to the Staying Alive foundation. So more people can be informed. I read somewhere that 100 people died from the H1N1 (swine flu) and everyone ran out and got masks… millions have died from AIDS but no one wants to buy condoms. Whoever came up with that was right. We have to get the word out and make peoples priorties change.
Since I am a hip hop artist, I would set up a huge fundraiser/benefit show at a local park… and bring together every HIGHSCHOOL out for mutual support.. and have special SPEAKERS give significant SPEECHES on the importance of this matter and the reality of it’s scarce. I, personally would reach out to different HIP HOP ARTISTS in the game, and community to reach out and come out to perform for the community and local scene in SUPPORT of HIV/AIDS.. I would also, reach out to different genre’s of music.. and invite those specific bands/artists out to bring a UNITY of MIXED ETHNICITIES and RACES out to this fundraiser. We would throw a GREAT CONCERT, and before every artist/band leaves the stage.. they would give a special speech on why it is important in their own opinion and voice why we should have protected physicality and the importance of knowing the background and history of HIV/AIDS… This would be a completely FREE Benefit Fundraiser with only donations accepted… This Event is to show the community WE as the PEOPLE of the city actually can make a change with one another by spreading the word and coming together to REACT and make a difference. Thank You for your time my brotha… SPREAD THE WORD. One Love.
Yours Truly,
ABCDE (ab-si-di)
I am very agreeable!
At first I teach right knowledge and fix the environment next and I distribute condoms and do it and think that it is to spread it last
hmm if I had a Staying Alive Grant . . . hmm . I think that there are alot of us teens having reckless sex without thinking about the consequences and the downs of unprotected sex. I would first put up billboards, posters all around the city . & people could have a little scavenger hunt . & within the scavenger hunt, they would have to read or watch [if its a video clip] about people’s lives with HIV/AiDS around the city. & within this scavenger hunt . they will have to collect some information [from people's lives with the diseases] or relevant items [like condoms. pamphlets. birth control, etc...] . when everything is found or achieved on the list — they would go to the downtown of the city and be able to talk to a lot of sexologists & doctors and regular people like them to tell them about the pros and cons about sex - visualaids wld be provided to show how to be prepared & ESPECiALLY talk about abstinence. The people would be able to meet up with a guest celebrity [TRAViE :]] to talk abt sex and to be able to get alot of people involved into these organizations and to help STOP this . there will be t-shirts handed out, raffles & contests, posters, ANYTHiNG to get the message across — ESPECiALLY to teeens .
THE MORE PEOPLE WHO KNOW — the LESS PEOPLE WOULD BE AFFECTED . ]
keeeeeeeeeep it up . this needs to be acknowledged.
If I had the chance, I would find a way to have a HIV/AIDS prevention class in my high school. I live in a generally closed-minded community, the kind that would never dream of talking about such a “dirty, disgusting disease”, let alone address it in class. I am currently entering my junior year in high school, and can honestly say I remember very little from my Sexual Education class. No middle schooler want’s to pay attention to some old teacher read from a text book about the importance of condoms. If given the chance, I would revolutionize the way Sex Ed is taught in my community. I would set up a class for kids my own age. It’s a sad fact, but without the knowledge of such terrible diseases, it’s only a matter of time before one finds themselves in the middle of them. I would donate whatever is left over from that to a local hospital that specializes in health care and support for those affected by HIV/AIDS.
The ways i would get HIV/Aids out there is to make booklets of the bad things that could to happen to you and how many people die of Hi. Another way to get the message out there is to host classes in the area where you live and show pictures what it looks like. Another way for a Staying Alive Grant is give away condoms so that the people know that Safe sex is needed in order to stay healthy. This project can be effective in community’s,the internet, posters, etc.
I admire this cause.
personally i would use the grant to go to spots where people are more likely to have sex once they leave. I would set up outside or even inside clubs and concerts with info and have them able to sign up with magic johnsons foundation or any other foundation that they would like. I would also find people who look as if they dont have aids to pose for some kind of pamphlet letting people know u dont have to be sickly looking to have aids it comes in all faces, shapes, and forms.
My cousin is a person affected by aids.If i had the oppertunity to give the world awareness about how serious it is i would first take my knowledge to my highschool, from there my small town, and i would expand further.I would tell everyone how important it is that you protect yourself.i would run testing and also make websites about HIV/AIDS awareness.things of this nature can be prevented and i would donate money to figure out how.i would give to those in need and make sure theyre being reconized for the people they are not the people who have been affected by HIV/AIDS.
i love what youre doing.
thank you for helping my cousin cope.
If I could get a grant, I would put more sex education classes in my school. A lot of people don’t even know about STD’s and think if you just use protection [most of the time they don't even know how to put it on properly] that you’ll be fine. For the unfortunate teens that have HIV/AIDS, I would set up some .. kind of program so they know that they’re not alone, and they’re just like every other person. I’d teach people not to discriminate against people who made a bad choice. I’d have guest speakers who have an STD give a testimony, and encourage kids to slow down for once.
I wish more people were more like you, and try harder to reach out! You set an example for them.
I WOULD PROBABLY START AN GROUP WITHIN MY HIGH SCHOOL THAT TEACHES THE IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF SEX EDUCATION. THAT GROUP WOULD GO AROUND THE SCHOOL FOR A WEEK OR SO TEACHING SEVERAL DIFFERENT CLASSES AND RECRUIT MORE KIDS TO JOIN. FROM THERE WE WOULD BRANCH OUT TO THE COMMUNITY SURROUNDING THAT AREA AND FIND DOCTORS OR SPECIALISTS TO COME AND SPEAK TO THE CHILDREN IN COMMUNITY CENTERS AND OTHER HIGH SCHOOLS. ALSO THAT PARTICULAR GROUP COULD CREATE A WEBSITE THAT WOULD ALLOW KIDS TO ASK QUESTIONS TO SPECIALIST AND FIND OUT VIABLE INFORMATION. THE INTERNET IS A POWERFUL TOOL AAND WE SHOULD USE IT TO OUR ADVANTAGE.
Dear Travie,
If I were to recieve a staying alive grant I would really get the idea of HIV/AIDS awareness out there in my community. I live in central Florida, an area wich is densly populated with people (even many teens) who have HIV/AIDS. It really does sadden me to know that so many people are dying all over this world due to the carelessness or unawareness of people. To be honest, I really wasn’t that educated about HIV/AIDS, or STDs in general, so I decided to do some research. I got myself educated. I even decided to do a research project for school on the subject because I felt it was so important fir my fellow high school classmates to be aware about the dangers a d consequences about having sex.
If I were to get a grant from staying alive, I would fund my school, East Ridge High, and other schools in and around central Florida in the education of teens and adults alike of STDs. I would set up seminars with public speakers in auditoriums and gymnasiums to help educate teens about STDs. I would hold small benefit concerts open to the public were aspiring artists of all shapes, sizes, color, and genre can perform and try to raise money for those in need. I would arrange walk-a-thons where athletes can “walk towards a brighter future” while raising money for research. I would do whatever is possible to help spread the word about being safe, using protection, and practicing abstinence before marriage.
I am sharing this letter with you not just to win your hat, not at all. I am trying to give ideas to you and to show people that there’s teens out there that care. We’re not all bad! But in all seriousness I hope this letter gives inspiration if anything and I wish you luck on your journies in spreading the word about awareness and in lift in general. Thank you for this appotunity.
With love,
Nichole
In my neighborhood, i’d give out blank CD’s with 4 on them since HIV/AIDS is called the CD4 cell. I’d put two names on each cd (one written on it and one hidden in it) and have the people return it back to the owner. By the end, everyone will have a cd with their name and someone elses name. It will show how quickly the virus can spread and how many people have had it before they even knew it. I’d give out condoms and pamphlets at the end to spread awareness.
Well in my community I would raise an awareness in all of the High School’s in the area…private and public because it would be important to set the message out to all. It would have to be a mandatory assembly to all grades, and really make it interesting not just some boring assembly that we usually see at school but something that would grab someones attention, bringing in ppl who can talk about their experiences with either having HIV or being the lucky few that didn’t get infected while either using drugs or having unprotected sex. Making the facts known and throwing all the close minded talk of how you can get HIV/AIDS and where you can prevent it. I think just coming from a peer their age from their town getting this message out and not holding back anything would really get them interested.
If i could get a grant i would start a program going to schools across the world and get people with HIV/AIDS to talk to the students about the disease and what it affects.
With a staying alive grant I would have more sex education classes in schools because in ny we were only required to take 1 health class; and even though we took that class it did not go in to depth about the subject. Along with this I would make sure that these classes have more up-to-date videos and examples that would catch the student’s attention so that they would be more aware. I also would have stations set up around the community which gave free condoms and information which would be provided anonymously, because usually when they do have these things some people are ashamed to take them because some one would see them. Furthermore having more commercials and ads around the community about how serious this situation is and that people are suffering from HIV/AIDS on a daily basis and that it could have been prevented easily.
that grant would be used for so muchh STDS are no jokee around my community i would Pep rally it at my hiqhschool .
i’d put a health center riqht by the hiqhschool . i’d buy millions of condoms hand em outt with a flier sayin “Usee it Protect yourself STDS is no jokke it wont stopp for anyonee & anyonee can qet it” i’d do so muchh bcus if you think of it Its a reality HIV AIDS all of it. & it could happen to me anyone i love i’d put it up & OUT THERE GYT is no liee qo qet yourself testedd
Thankyouu
With the grant I would take the money to create a rolling HIV/Aids bus. I would travel to all the area high schools and colleges. This bus would provide on the spot HIV testing, as well as free condoms and education materials. There would be speakers on the bus that would go to the different schools to speak to the kids not only about the dangers of HIV/Aids but other STI’s. I would also take the grant to work with the Stop Aids program in my city so that they could better do their community outreach.
In my city i would begin a whole outreach. I’d create a informative video on HIV/AIDs/STD’s, with interviews from dr’s, people with friends who have anyone of those, people who are living with it, or people who have lost someone due to them. The more information and knowledge people have on a certain topic the more likely they are to take the time out and listen. When you allow people to see what really happens when someone becomes infected they actually listen. My goal would be to find someone who is living with HIV/AIDS, or is/has lived with STD’s and interview them on camera (or blocked out for privacy) and have them tell people what its like. i’d find a prostitue with hiv/aids because they always have a life changing experience and i’d also, with the permission of the parents, find a child who was born into the world with hiv and have them talk about how its different for themm find a drug user and have them tell people about the running risk of using needles can eventually lead to contracting hiv/aids and also have dr’s shown on the video telling a little more about HIV/AIDs/STD’s. I’d also give some short clips from the Broadway play RENT and show them how some people have to live in fear of dying once the virus was contracted. Then i’d gather a ton of information and create pamphlets with information about all std’s and hiv/aids awareness. i’d go to high schools and colleges and even middle schools and talk about safe sex, living in abstinences, and the running risks of unprotected sex. i’d show the video during the informative speech and try to get guest speakers who have hiv/aids or have had an std and are willing to share it. i would also put together a “safety package” with free condoms, and pamphlets on HIV/AIDs/STD’s. i’d gather all sexual awareness numbers and put together business cards for them to call the numbers if they needed someone to talk to. and most important, i’d let all people who were infected with any of the viruses know they are not alone and there are people out there like you and me who care and want to outreach them and let them know there are things they can do.
i support everything travie is doing and any way i can be apart of it i would love to get involved!
I think you should promote your documentary with help of mtv, visit schools and talk about it with them. I mean, I’m 14 years old and we had already talk about it twice at school, but maybe get to know them and ask them which music they listen to. for ex.:EVERY GIRL- Nappy Boy All Stars REMIX or Chris Brown - Take you down. We are all the time listening to this songs on the radio or mtv and they don’t realize that teenagers take it as a role model. It’s also a good idea to have a concert as a advertising campaign; not just in the USA, but a world campaign..
love u traviee,
Julia..♥
i would just like to express my total admiring of what you guys are doing. ive done some projects in the past helping raise awareness for hiv/aids with a non-profit organization called KALEIDOSCOPE. this program is geared to children in the commmunity who love art [music,art,dance,step,etc.]. they have numerous programs that help the kids in our community learn more about the art that they are dedicated to as well as incorporating a message through their art. its a very well ran program, which is paid through donations and grants. this program has held fundraisers for the crisis in uganda and has also taken trips to the south numerous times helping rebuild what katrina damaged. so since this is a program i used to be apart of and it is already well known in our community i would use the grant through them. they have free showcases at the local theatre [capitol arts] every end of each session which is two every schoolyear and in the showcase i would request that this session the children get together and create a show geared towards aids/hiv awarness. from their song writing to their dances to their art work they would express the importance of being safe and how serious of an epidemic this would be. i would also have them incorporate their families in the research and process of the showcase. since this program already has rallys, showcases, fundraisers, news reminders on the local news nchannel, and does murals around town on buildings, it wouldnt be a challenge, but a priveledge to these kids to help raise awareness to the community. i believe it would get the wholoe town in buzzing about the awareness. this program has loving and honorable staff who are not paid to do this. the staff includes a singing group called noizejoi who are a group of people who love the earth and love the children they work with and care about what goes on in the world and raising awareness to epidemics such as these. im sure theyd love the opportunity to use this as a theme as well as you are. god bless travey and gymclassheroes
-ciara <3
If i had the chance to raise awareness
My target would be on the young generation
Its just now a day you see kids having kids
I would have someone who is battling with hiv/aids to be a motivated speaker
Also a support group for those who have hiv/aids
The group would be good because no one should feel alone and feel like theres no hope for them
There are so many way this could come about
Well to all giving a word out there keep doing it
Its takes everyones help but one to spread the word
I live in the largest holiday complex in europe (South Portugal)but i guess that there’s a lot of people infected here due the number of “junkies”. I dont really know how to speak english, but here it goes anyway..
So, i would distribute pamphlets with loads of info about HIV/AIDS, how to prevent it, risks, etc..
If i had money i would set up some of those vans with nurses to make blood tests and also psychologists to help teenagers understand the risk of unprotected sex.
Since Travis is a big supporter of this cause, i would invite Gym Class Heroes to give a concert out here and talk about this horrible virus. I would invite loads of people to a party organized by me to collect funds to open a Charity Center. I’d love to help everyone, but the number of infections is getting bigger and bigger, so i guess this is just a dream. I support President Bush’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, because it helped many people in Africa. I wish i could do the same. Thanks MTV and Travis for helping this cause.
I would pay my friends dad who is a doctor to give free tests or i would get my friends together and we would support a free clinic. there are so many options here. i could start an awareness class at my school. or at local gas stations and walmarts i have a booth for free condoms and guides to safe sex. the sky is the limit on this. i could get local airtime on a tv station and have different people come and share their stories about how stds have affected their lives and give warning to the younger generation about the dangers of unsafe sex. their are endless possibilities.
If I was able to get a grant to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS I would be sure to put more sex education classes in high school, for we are only required to take one and it barely touches that subject of HIV/AIDS. I would have real people who are experienced with this STD come in the classes and talk to the students.
Then I would set up benefit concerts or things like that all around the world for people to learn about it for free. They would have free goodie bags for people that would include condoms and free information.
If there would be any money left I would set up classes for adults who already have it and/or adults that would like to learn more about it, but keep their information private. This would let adults know that they are not alone and there are people out there with the same problems and people that are willing to help. By taking these classes, anyone in your family or yourself could get free HIV/AIDS testing.
But most importantly, I would make sure the message is out all across the world “PROTECT YOURSELF; WEAR A CONDOM LIFE IS TOO PRECIOUS TO LET GO WITH ONE SIMPLE MISTAKE!”
I would have like a traveling type thing and stop places and throw a party and have a different musicians at each one explaning the consequences of un protected sex there would be shwag bags with a cd and a song from that artist with a special track on it and condoms in the bag the partys would be poppin but the message would still get out to ppl love partys you haveto combine each thing to really get the message ppl dont want to be in a class or listen to a speech to get attention you have to give pay attention this is what ppl want so by you giving them what they want its pretty much an obligation to strap up and get your protected sex on
HIV/AIDS is a very serious disease that is affecting many young adults and teens in the world. with the grant being offered i would get the word out starting with the youth since they are not as aware of it as they should be. then work my way up to the young adults, and hopefully the older people. and try to make them aware and understand that HIV/AIDS can happen to anybody, race, color, and religion. i would make my community more aware of the consequences of it, spread the word, and have clinics set up to get yourself checked. since i live in a small community, it’s a more hush-hush situation.. but i want to change that. i think even if you live in a super religious community, like i do.. you need to be aware of the situation. we have to be realistic here, praying is not going to make it go away. so would open up the eyes of every person i can, and let them know what is going on in the world. i would make a program in the schools to start talking about sex-ed, STI’s, and make it a class required to take.
